A multi-award-winning mixed-use development in Scotland’s historic capital.
Contractor: Bowmer + Kirkland
Sectors: Residential, Student Accommodation
Value: £1.1 million
Status: Complete (2019)
Once a council cleaning and street lighting depo with an adjoining nightclub, King’s Stables Road was transformed into a premium mixed use scheme comprising luxury apartments, student accommodation, a 4-star hotel, over 5,700 sqft of commercial space, and a series of paved courtyards – all sensitively designed to complement its setting within a Unesco World Heritage site.
Oakwood was contracted by the team at Bowmer + Kirkland to carry out the manufacture and installation of kitchen and bedroom FF&E within the boutique student accommodation, as well as the manufacture and installation of fitted kitchens, Corian worktops, and fitted wardrobes within the apartment block.
This was Oakwood’s second project with Bowmer + Kirkland, following the successful delivery of Renny’s Lane student accommodation in Durham in 2017. The King’s Stables development has since won numerous awards, including Private Halls of Residence of the Year, RICS Social Impact Award, and Commercial Development in the Scottish Property Awards.
